I have survived my first high school semester. In Chinese I found that writing characters while saying them really helped. I believe it helped because while saying them I created a emphasis on the tone and pin yin. Writing the characters also helped me just know the strokes and what they looked like. This way of repeatedly practicing my speaking Chinese everyday with my mom and my written Chinese really helped improve my Chinese capabilities. I plan to continue my practice throughout the year. I also found that if I just circled subjects of importance I remembered it better. So I will continue to do so.
The project I feel most proud of is my twilight project. I am proud of the project because of the connection it has to people. I feel a deep connection to this project because everyone in LA has a story about LA and I feel like maybe we helped share some else's story. I also liked how it was about an event that really struck the heart of everybody. I also can’t help feeling that there should be a second twilight book. But instead of being about the riots should be about the injustices in today's world. That’s really why I’m proud of this project. It feels like with more and more stories a difference could be made. Change the way people are treated and viewed.
Something that I did lower than expected on was my physics midterm. As I reflect back I see that while I studied hard. I never took the test seriously. So I didn’t take my time nor did I check my answers well. There many preventable point losses that didn’t happen because I wasn’t focused on showing what I knew on the test. I was focused on getting out of the classroom, but I should have focused on the actual test. This seemed to be the only test that I felt that way about. This is my first time taking midterms and maybe I felt lax, because I had taken my first test and felt quite good about it. So my next test didn’t seem like such a monster. At the end of 2nd semester I know I will be more careful because of this past experience.
The E-Learning class proved to be helpful when first navigating the new add-ons. E-Learning is actually very specific to all of Poly wants. I found the email organization the most effective module for me. I had never really organized my emails before, but after everything felt much easier to read and keep track of. The module I found least helpful was StayFocused. Mainly because the actual extension rendered useless. I do appreciate the suggestion of something that could help me focus though. Maybe instead having kids create their own plan for focus and create extension options that they might have to use could create a better advantage for more children.
