Recursion in the ever expanding Universe

This is my original recursion image. Recursion to me is something that repeats itself in the same exact way over and over again. This picture is a recursion of Kevin holding Kevin. In the background is the universe which never ends just like recursions.

An Endless loop of Possibilities with Scratch

Using Scratch was enjoyable and easy to understand. My program is essentially an endless loop of music and colors. I really enjoyed toying the many different options and seeing how to use each one and what worked well with what.

Enlightening my mind with lightbot

I cut this puzzle into three parts. So I created an algorithm for the first part. Then implemented it into Proc1 to realign the bot a place where I can repeat Proc2 to light up the 2nd part. and again in the main I realigned the bot so I could repeat Proc 2 to solve the puzzle.

Bebras Computational Thinking Log-art

For this problem, I tried to simplify the log and tried to find patterns and relationships with the three examples. What I found was that example 2 was the same but had had elongated each arm by 2.  I looked at stage one of example 2 and elongated each arm by 2 and got my answer.

Bebras Computational Thinking

I first deconstructed the problem into 3 different parts. Saw that every time a hole was reached the order would be changed. I also recognized that after coming out of the whole the order would be in reverse of what it was going in. I was able to identify this pattern, create an algorithm, and use it to my advantage.

Media Effects on Body Image Infographic

Creating this Infographic was fun and interesting. I chose to not use too many images because I was too lazy to cite any and felt I could get carried away with too many pictures. My color scheme was 3 shades of yellow/orange, white, and black. I chose the 3 shades of yellow/orange to create a sense of connection throughout out the infographic. I used black and white when I wanted to emphasize key words and facts.

The Images I did use I thought were iconic and were related to the information given. My layout was pretty simple but has a pattern. I decided to organize it this way because it looked aesthetically pleasing to me. To me, there seems to be a sense of chaos because not everything is in line but at the same time there is enough of a pattern to hold the piece together.

Looking back I actually really liked playing with the infographic and seeing what looked good and what didn't. Using color theory and basic shapes to create an aesthetically pleasing image. I could see myself in the future using Canva to create flyers and such. I also found a lot of insight using the google scholar search tool. Now knowing of the tool it will be very useful when I need to find accurate sources for research. One of my favorite parts of google scholar is that it automatically gives you citations for 4 or 5 different formats. I definitely will be using scholar in future.

Reviewing My 1st Highschool Semester

I have survived my first high school semester. In Chinese I found that writing characters while saying them really helped. I believe it helped because while saying them I created a emphasis on the tone and pin yin. Writing the characters also helped me just know the strokes and what they looked like. This way of repeatedly practicing my speaking Chinese everyday with my mom and my written Chinese really helped improve my Chinese capabilities. I plan to continue my practice throughout the year. I also found that if I just circled subjects of importance I remembered it better. So I will continue to do so.

The project I feel most proud of is my twilight project. I am proud of the project because of the connection it has to people. I feel a deep connection to this project because everyone in LA has a story about LA and I feel like maybe we helped share some else's story. I also liked how it was about an event that really struck the heart of everybody. I also can’t help feeling that there should be a second twilight book. But instead of being about the riots should be about the injustices in today's world. That’s really why I’m proud of this project. It feels like with more and more stories a difference could be made. Change the way people are treated and viewed.

Something that I did lower than expected on was my physics midterm. As I reflect back I see that while I studied hard. I never took the test seriously. So I didn’t take my time nor did I check my answers well. There many preventable point losses that didn’t happen because I wasn’t focused on showing what I knew on the test. I was focused on getting out of the classroom, but I should have focused on the actual test. This seemed to be the only test that I felt that way about. This is my first time taking midterms and maybe I felt lax, because I had taken my first test and felt quite good about it. So my next test didn’t seem like such a monster. At the end of 2nd semester I know I will be more careful because of this past experience.

The E-Learning class proved to be helpful when first navigating the new add-ons. E-Learning is actually very specific to all of Poly wants. I found the email organization the most effective module for me. I had never really organized my emails before, but after everything felt much easier to read and keep track of. The module I found least helpful was StayFocused. Mainly because the actual extension rendered useless. I do appreciate the suggestion of something that could help me focus though. Maybe instead having kids create their own plan for focus and create extension options that they might have to use could create a better advantage for more children.
